Walter Leander Beech, III, 68, of Antis Township died Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Laurel, Mississippi son of the late Walter L. Beech, Jr. and Catherine M.(Greiner) Beech Frederick. He married Barbara A. Heisler on May 14, 1965 at St. Mary’s Church, Altoona. Surviving are his wife; three children, Michael (Sandra) of Bellwood, Stephanie Beech of Antis Township and Walter L. IV (Kimberly) of Bellwood; six grandchildren, Justin Miller, Brandon, Matthew, Tyler, Daniel and Kayla Beech; a great granddaughter, Kaylee Beech; three sisters, Kathleen (Rick) Cassarly and Deborah Ball both of Altoona and Jennifer Watts of Ocean Spring, Miss.; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Scott Miller and Michelle Beech. He was preceded in death by a son, Brent M. on Jan. 8, 2006. Walter retired as a pipefitter/welder at Local 354 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion, Bellwood. Walt enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and having cookouts. He volunteered at the Humane Society and enjoyed spending time at the Eagles. Walt loved his family and friends and was always there when anyone was in need of help. Friends will be received from 4 until the 7pm funeral Mass on Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood by the Rev. David H. Roesch. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walt’s memory may be given to his spouse.
