William Chestney

William E. Chestney, Jr. 87, formerly of Juniata, died Friday evening at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. He was born in Juniata son of the late William and Mabel (Flood) Chestney. He married Florine C. “Toots” Habasevich on June 16, 1949 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata and she preceded him in death on March 4, 2015. Surviving are four sons, Bill (Jeanine) of Sinking Valley, Timothy (Bonnie) of New Port Richey, Fla., John (Tina) of Altoona and David (Mary Beth) of Dysart; seven grandchildren, Keara, Matthew, Brian, Natasha, Dustin, Tayler and Andrea; and a brother, Charles of Bellmeade. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; a grandson, Michael; and great granddaughter, Adeline Louise Bill was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School where he was a member of the baseball team. He retired in 1989 as a yardmaster at Conrail, Altoona and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp in Huntingdon County. He was a caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather. At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial mass to celebrate the life of and pray for William Chestney will be held at 7pm, June 14, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, the Rev. Alan Thomas, celebrant. Committal at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
