William Lee

William G. Lee, 90, Altoona, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon November 12, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. He was born December 27, 1928 in Bellwood, son of the late Thomas M. and Grace N. (Gorsuch) Lee. On Dec. 19, 1953, he married Patricia J. Swanger at Wehnwood Evangelical United Brethren Church, Altoona, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Michael S. of Altoona and Stephen J. (Lisa) of Salem, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Jasmine, Davina, Tyler, Tiffany and Stephen, Jr. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, James, Robert and John; and a sister, Rebecca Beaver. William was a graduate of Bellwood Antis High School. He retired as a master sergeant in the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. His military career included time served during the Korean War and overseas service in Vietnam during the war. He was a member a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood and a former member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church. Bill was a life member of former Tyrone Lodge No. 494 F & AM, a member of Mountain Lodge No. 281 F & AM Altoona, Scottish Rite Valley of Altoona, and Jaffa Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Jaffa Patrol. Bill enjoyed collecting clocks. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8pm Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Inc. Bellwood, where a Masonic service will also be held. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor Gloria Montgomery officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
