William Munn

William G. Munn, 56, Altoona, died peacefully early Thursday morning, April 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 11, 1962 in Altoona, son of the late James O. and Virginia (Swan) Munn. Surviving are his wife, Heather A. McArdle; his daughter, Elizabeth V. McArdle-Munn at home; his sister, Jennifer M. (Jeffrey) Wright of Altoona; and several cousins. Bill was a 1980 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Penn State University in 1983, a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs at American University, Washington DC in 1986, and in 1999, his PhD of Philosophy in Political Science at Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, Calif. In addition, he also studied at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was employed as an educational consultant at JBL Associates, Inc., Bethesda, Md. During his youth, he was a member of Mardorf United Methodist Church, Juniata Gap. Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. He especially loved spending time with his daughter, Elizabeth. Friends will be received from 5 to 7pm Monday, April 22, 2019 at Hillside Community Church, Bellwood. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 7pm Monday at the church, Pastor Kenneth Beichler officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona. The family suggests that contributions in Bill’s memory be made to a charity of individual choice.
