SHEFTIC (SZEWCZYK) – Mary Lee, 78, Boswell, was pronounced dead May 11, 2015, at home. Born April 11, 1937, daughter of Charles W. and Mary R. (Bobek) Szewczyk. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Charles J., on May 6, 1998; aunts, Anne Kolodisa, Frances Shubik and Mary, Kathryn and Joan Szewczyk; uncles, Edward, Thadeus and Walter Szewczyk; and special cousins, Helen Cheek and Mary Jane Cavallo. Survived by cousins, Jo Kubas, Ted and Tony Sheftic, Ed Szewczyk, Linda Kopec, Martha Leyman and Beverly Charboneau; godchildren, Kyle Szewczyk and Ian Cheek; numerous other second cousins, and their families; and many special friends. A 1954 graduate of the former JBJ High School, where she was a cheerleader. She also graduated from St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, a recipient of a master’s degree from Penn State University and taught school in Virginia for several years. Former vice president of Peoples Bank and Trust and served on the board of directors for First Commonwealth Financial Corp. Past partner of County Amusement and was a shareholder of Richland Cinemas. Lifelong member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, now All Saints Catholic Parish. Also a member of Boswell Historical Society. Lifetime Steelers fan and owner of Steelers season tickets, held by the Sheftic family for more than 60 years. She was an avid Notre Dame supporter and a philanthropist who supported numerous charities. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Church, Boswell, the Rev. Father Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal, St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell. Memorial donations may be given to All Saints Church Ramp Fund, c/o All Saints Church, 325 Quemahoning St., Boswell, Pa. 15531.
