Sherman “Lee” Wetzel of South Fayette Twp. Passed away at home on April 22, with wife, Mary Lou, and grandsons, Michael and Mitchell, by his side. Lee was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Dennler) and father to Timothy and Edward “Ted” Wetzel. Stepfather to Tricia Shoup, Noël Shoup, and Holly Downs. Custodial grandfather to Michael and Mitchell Downs. Grandfather of Katie Atikinson, Kylee and Patrick Wetzel, Andrew Woods, and Quinn Downs. He also has four great grandchildren David, Sydney, and Weston Atkinson and Storm Downs. Lee was born on August 31, 1940 in Lost Creek, West Virginia. The son of the late Francis and Nola (Coffman). Brother of the late Wilma Plyman, Rose Jenkins and Edward “Buddy” Wetzel. He is survived by his sister Karen Stedina of Tennessee. He attended Geneva College, and Salem College. For 31 years Lee worked for General Motors Corporation in many capacities: District Sales Manager, Dealer Operations Specialist, Marketing Development Manager, and Medium Duty Sales Executive before retiring in 1999. After retiring, Lee held a position on the South Fayette Twp. Library Board for 15 years and held a position as the Vice President for a number of years. He was also a Judge of Elections for about 15 years at the Municipality of South Fayette Twp. A funeral mass for Lee will be held at Holy Child Church in Bridgeville, PA, at a later date due to Covid-19. Should you wish to be informed please contact downsmduq@gmail.com.
