Helen Bishop

Helen E. Bishop, age 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Gettysburg, PA. Born February 15, 1930 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Chronister Ankerbrand. Mrs. Bishop was a 1948 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was a lifetime member of the King Street United Brethren Church, where she was an active member of the church choir for many years and the Mustard Seed Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, cooking, crossword puzzles, sewing, collecting Depression glass, and taking trips with the church choir and Sunday School Class. Surviving are three children, Gary L. Bishop of Chambersburg, PA; Linda B. Dearing (husband Jeffery) of Herndon, VA; and Terry R. Bishop (wife Dian) of Mercersburg, PA; six grandchildren, Spencer G. Dearing, Justin A. Dearing, Jennifer R. Mikaily (husband Michael), Nicole L. Dearing, and Joshua and Jon King; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Louise Basinger, Harry Ankerbrand, Shelby Hull, and Ray Ankerbrand. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnet L. Bishop in 2001 and two siblings, George Ankerbrand and Ida Mae Byers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Charity of One’s Choice.
