John Snyder Obituary

John A. Snyder, Jr., age 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, PA. Born September 23, 1924, in Harney, MD, he was the son of the late John A. and Clara E. Cook Snyder, Sr. A Clerk at Letterkenny Army Depot, Mr. Snyder retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the George Washington Lodge #143 F. & A.M, and the Harrisburg Consistory A.A.S.R. He enjoyed fellowship at the church, going to lodge, where he was a 50 year member, PSU sports, especially football, taking traveling and shopping trips with his wife, spending time with his family, doing work for Jesus, and his social life. Surviving are two children, Bonnie Knode (husband Don) of Williamsport, MD and John A. Snyder III (fiancé Monica Bradshaw) of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren, Kimberly Cole, Donald Knode II, Michelle Daugherty, Brittany Plasterer (husband Trevor) of Chambersburg, PA and John A. Snyder IV; five great-grandchildren, Santana, Jillian, Justin, Jacquelynn, Nathan, and Emersyn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife June E. Eyer Snyder; two siblings, Glenn Snyder and Beatrice Cromwell; and a daughter – in – law, Kimberly Snyder. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 1 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 431 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Sharon F. Kelly, PhD will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 7 – 9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where a Masonic Service will be held at 8 PM by members of the George Washington Lodge #143. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the above church and address.
