Sharon Nagy

Sharon S. Nagy, 70, of Mercersburg, PA, and more recently of Chambersburg, PA, passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by her family after a valiant and inspiring fight against the ravages of Parkinson’s Disease. Born March 10, 1947 in Uniontown, PA, she was a daughter of the late David G. and Betty J. Crago Blackburn. She was a 1965 graduate of the former Uniontown Joint High School, a graduate of the Presbyterian University Hospital School of Nursing, St. Joseph’s College, and completed graduate work at Liberty University, Shippensburg University, California College of Health Sciences and Southern California University for Professional Studies. Sharon was a member of Redeemer Church in Chambersburg and a former long-time member of the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church. She was an original member of the Board of Directors of Pregnancy Ministries Inc. where she also volunteered for many years and served as an advisor. Putting her faith in Christ and devotion to her family above all else, Mrs. Nagy also enjoyed a professional career as an RN, social worker, and Director of the Franklin County Parents and Kids Program until her retirement in 2010. Her hobbies included cooking and reading, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their various events. She is survived by her husband, Paul P. Nagy, whom she married March 14, 1970; four children, David P. Nagy and wife Becky of Mercersburg, Matthew P. Nagy and wife Jenny of Mercersburg, Sarah J. Pananes and husband Tony of Chambersburg, and Benjamin A. Nagy and fiancé Angela McNulty of Mercersburg; six grandchildren, Morgan, Aaron, Abigail, Hannah, and Elizabeth Nagy, and Oliver Pananes; two sisters, Joyce Longwell and husband Gilbert of Mechanicsburg and Becky Bavetz and husband Marty of New Salem; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Jeff Cottone will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and from Noon-1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to The Michael J.
