Anna Mae Earl

<p>Anna Mae Earl affectionately known as “Polly”, was born September 11, 1921 in Bessemer Alabama to the late Mahan and Kate Washington. Anna Mae was eighth of 10 children, all of whom have pre-deceased her, namely McNeil, Lena, Lillie, Brownie Eugene, Robert, Lula Beatrice, Mahalia, Thomas Edison, and James. At a young age Anna Mae and her family moved to Big Stone Gap, Va and settled into life in the small southwestern Virginia coal mining town. Life in that small coal mining town was sometimes difficult but Anna Mae had a strong faith to sustain her. She was a faithful member of the local Methodist church in town.</p><p><br></p><p>Anna Mae welcomed her first child Edna Mae followed by Betty Jean. Anna Mae settled into adult life working as a domestic. In 1951, she migrated to the Wilmington Delaware area and eventually settled in Chester, Pa where she married Jake Earl, Sr. </p><p><br></p><p>Anna Mae and Jake welcomed Jake Jr., Patricia Ann, Steven Eric, Michael Anthony, Donna Antwan, and Kathy Lenore. Anna continued her working life as a domestic serving several families. Among them were the Snively’s, the Hart family, and the Tobia families. </p><p><br></p><p>Anna Mae led an active adult life, as a member of Spencer UAME church in Chester, Pa and associated auxiliary groups. Anna Mae was active and present in the lives of her children as they grew and made their way through life as adults, welcoming many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. </p><p><br></p><p>Anna leaves a lasting legacy and powerfully memory in the lives of her children and other relatives; Edna (Keith), Betty, Jake Jr. (Rosalyn), Patricia (Creighton), Steven Sr. (Cheryl), Michael (Loretta), Donna and Predeceased by Kathy Lenore, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. </p><p><br></p>
