Okie Washington Boothe

OKIE WASHINGTON BOOTHE, 84 years of Fawn Grove, PA, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Married on August 14, 1954, he was the beloved husband of Reba Viola (Wright) Boothe for 63 years. Born on June 30, 1933 in York, PA, Okie was one of fourteen children of the late John Roland and Mabel Florence (McCormick) Boothe and had lived in Fawn Grove since 1971. Retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army in 1971, Okie proudly served his country through two tours in the Korean War and one tour in Vietnam. His country had awarded him the Purple Heart. Following his service, Okie drove a bulk feed truck for Southern States followed by working on the road maintenance crew for PennDOT, retiring in 1996 after 10 years of employment. Okie was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Airville, PA, enjoyed going to yard sales in addition to working with wood crafting benches and bird houses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Four children- Rita Feveryear and her husband, Glenn of Bel Air, MD Patricia Swift and her husband, Roger of Jarrettsville, MD William Boothe and his wife, Jennifer Thompson-Boothe of South Bend, IN Robert Boothe and his wife, Irma of York, PA Eight grandchildren- Renee Howard Daniel Feveryear Madison Boothe Mason Boothe Whitney Butler Holly Gustafson Shannon Boothe Sophia Boothe Two great grandchildren – Noah and Lucy Feveryear Okie was preceded in death by his 13 siblings. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday. His minister, Pastor Rodney Stamper will officiate. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Delta, PA with military honors presented by the York County Veteran Honor Guard.
