Carmen F. Palumbo, 97, of Bethlehem Twp., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in his home. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Martucci) George-Palumbo, who died in 1996. Born in South Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Benedetto and Irene (Ciccarelli) Palumbo. He honorably served his country in the Marine Corps., during WWII. Carmen worked for the former Bethlehem Steel, in the Beam Yards, for 30 years, until retiring. In 1950, he opened the Sportsman's Cafe, until it's closing. He played baseball for the City Catholic League, where he was an outstanding pitcher/player. He was also an avid basketball, billiard player and golfer, who had two holes in one. Survivors: brother Peter and his wife Lydia of Calif.; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings Joe, Olga, Mary and Angeline. Services: 1pm Monday Dec. 17 at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill, where friends may call from 12noon-1pm. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
