Obituary for Claude J. Derr

Claude J. Derr, 89, of Bethlehem died on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Holy Family Manor. He was the husband of the late Jean Marie (O'Donnell) Derr for 38 years, until her passing on Oct. 13, 1984, and currently Eva (Semuta) Derr of Bethlehem, for the the past 25 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Linford and Mary (Brugger) Derr. Claude honorably served with the U.S. Marines during World War II, where he participated in action against the enemy while serving aboard the USS PASADENA. Later, he worked as a electrician for the former Donmoyer Electric in Allentown for 30 years until retiring. He was a life-long member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Bethlehem and a charter member of St. Bernard's Home of the Good Samaritan. Survivors: in addition to his wife Eva, are daughters, Rosemary Neimeister and husband Thomas of Bethlehem; Claudia Benner and husband Dennis of Center Valley; Kathryn Trunk and husband Sherwood of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Alison Neimeister Hoffman, Tom Neimeister, Garrett Benner, Brandon Benner, and Ashley Trunk Evans; He is also survived by step-daughters Christine Antoccia and MariaHillman; 8 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren. Services: 11 am Saturday Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 417 Carlton Ave., Bethlehem. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 pm atCantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway Fountain Hill, and again on Saturday from 10-11 am in church. The interment with military honors will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claude's name to Holy Ghost Church. Online condolences:
