Edward A. Chladny, 84, of Fountain Hill, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in his home. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth A.(Polenchar) Chladny for 60 years. Born in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Alex and Bertha (Nemsilla) Chladny. He was a 1943 graduate of Fountain Hill High School and a 1949 graduate of Rider College. Ed was an Army veteran serving as a Sergeant Major during WWII. He worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp., in the Accounts Payable Dept. for 33 years. He was a member of St. Ursula Catholic Church and it's Holy Name Society, the Elks, the Fountain Hill Hose Co. #1 and the Golden Hillers of Fountain Hill. Ed was was a baseball coach for 25 years. He dedicated his life to his family and will be sadly missed. Survivors: his wife Elizabeth at home; sons Edward A., Jr. and his wife Nanette of Macungie, Tom D. and his wife Julie of Hanover Twp., Jeffrey E. of College Hill, Easton, Scott A. of Allentown, Mark R. and his wife Michelle of Salisbury Twp.; sisters Peggy Zelezen of Bethlehem and Lu Wolfe and her husband Barry of Oreland, Pa.; brother Eugene and his wife Olive of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Jessica, Melissa, Christy, Christopher, Alexa and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Eleanor "Toots" Falvey and Jenny Aicher. Services: 10am Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday May 20, 2009 at St. Ursula Catholic Church, 1300 Broadway, Fountain Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 7-8:30pm and Wednesday from 8:30-9:30am at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill. Entombment with military honors will be in the Holy Saviour Cemetery Mausoleum, Bethlehem. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions or Masses in Ed's name may be made to the church.
