Ernest J. "Ernie" DiSalvatore, 88, of Bethlehem, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Schriner) DiSalvatore. This past Jan. 22nd, they were married for 68 years.
Born in Martins Creek, he was the son of the late Orazio and Aligsia (Paoline) DiSalvatore.
Ernie worked in the central tool dept., and was a chief scheduler for the Bethlehem Steel Corp., for many years, until retiring.
He was a member of the former Our Lady of Pompeii Church where he was an usher and member of the Holy Name Society.
Ernie was involved in politics for many years, and was also a baseball umpire and a basketball official.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife Peggy are daughters Pat Campanella and husband Dan of Bethlehem, and Cheryl Michaels of Eustis, Fla.;
6 3/4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister Stella DeCarlo of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kathy Lee Griffis, grandson Thye and brothers Tony, Dubby and Archie.
Services: 12 noon Saturday Oct. 20, at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill, where the family will receive friends from 11-12 noon. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ernie's name to the American Cancer Society
