Gustave P. "Gus" Bleier, formerly of Bethlehem, died Monday, May 25, 2009 in Westminster Village in Allentown, where he had been a resident for the past 7 years. He was the husband of Dorothy M. "Dottie"(Hovancik) Bleier. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Gustave and Irene (Yeager) Bleier. Gus worked as a Foreman for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for many years, until retiring in 1983. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. Bernard's, NE Wanderers, Jefferson Democratic Club and also the University Parish of Holy Ghost all in Bethlehem. Always with a smile, Gus had a heart of gold and will be lovingly remembered by his entire family. Survivors: wife Dottie of Bethlehem Twp.; daughters Cynthia S. Guffy and her husband Alex of Easton and Karen D. Minorics and her husband Jeff of Bethlehem Twp.; son-in-law Tommy Miller of Georgia; 6 granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. He was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen L. Miller in 2004 and his brother Peter. Services: 11am Mass on Friday May 29, 2009 at the University Parish of Holy Ghost, 417 Carlton Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18015. A calling hour will be from 10-11am in the church. Inurnment with military honors will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery in Bethlehem. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gus's name to Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's, 1510 Valley Center Pkwy. Suite 200 Bethlehem, PA 18017 and/or to the Church.
