Philip R. "Smokey" Transue, 80, of Bethlehem, died Friday, May 29, 2009. He was the loving husband of Helene (Contakes) Transue for 56 years. Born in Freemansburg, he was the son of the late Philip and Bertha (Miller) Transue. Smokey worked in maintenance for the US Postal Service for 25 years, until retiring in 1990. He was a Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of the NE Wanderers in Bethlehem and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miller Heights. Survivors: wife Helene at home; granddaughter Nicole Seward of Sanford, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Seward in 2000 and brothers George, Chester and Frank. Services: 10am Tuesday June 2, 2009 Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 1817 First St. Miller Heights, where friends and family may call from 9-10am in church.
