Obituary for Roy L. Hoffert

Roy L. Hoffert, 86, formerly of Bethlehem, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, in Gracedale Nursing Home, Upper Nazareth Twp. He was the husband of the late Doris (Durfey) who died in 1971 and the late Doris (Sterns) who died in 2006. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Gertrude (Johnson) Hoffert. Roy was an Army veteran, who proudly served his country in Korea. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Fountain Hill Fire Dept. for 30 years and as a police officer for 25 years for the Borough of Fountain Hill, until retiring in 1978. Roy also worked for the Cantelmi Funeral Home for many years. He was a member of Fritz Memorial United Methodist Church, Bethlehem, and was also a member of the FOP, LeHampton Lodge #35. Survivors: son Richard Hoffert of Bradenton, Fla., Lawrence Hoffert of York; step-son John Sterns of Bethlehem; step-daughter Elizabeth Adamek of Hellertown; granddaughter Melanie Hunt and her husband Gary of Bath and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Schlicher in 2003. Services: 11am Thursday June 3, 2010 at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10-11am. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Allentown. Online condolences at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com
