Obituary for Stephen J. Lawrence

Stephen J. Lawrence, 79, of Bethlehem Twp., died on Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Pereda) Lawrence for 55 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Stephen Lawrence, Sr., Mary (Donchez) Lawrence-Kovacs, and step-son to the late Joseph Kovacs. He was a graduate of St. Joseph parochial school and a 1952 graduate of Liberty High School. Stephen honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a clerk for the LCB, in the state store for 20 years, until retiring. Later, he worked as an assistant for Connell, the former Madden, and Cantelmi Funeral Homes. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bethlehem. He had a great love of his home, cars, and basketball. He also enjoyed talking to people, and always sharing a joke. In addition to his loving wife Pat, are sister Mary Ann Kunsman and her husband William; step-brother James Kovacs and his wife Connie all of Bethlehem. Services: 10am Saturday March 29, 2014, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 E 5th St, Bethlehem, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9-10am in church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill. In lieu of flowers, to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675
