Charles M. "Chuck" Nichols, 81 Of Aldan, PA Charles M. "Chuck" Nichols, 81, died Sunday November 10, 2012 in the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, PA. Born in Forty Fort, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and the late Ethel (Houck) Nichols.
Chuck was a resident of Aldan for 51 years coming from Collingdale, PA. Chuck graduated in 1949 from Collingdale High School. He served during the Korean war in the U.S.
Marine Corps. He was a retired Printer, employed by J.B. Slevin Co., Lansdowne, PA. Chuck was the oldest member of Collingdale Fire Co. #2 with 63 years of service and age, where he served as Captain, Fire chief and was on the board of directors serving as chairperson for over 10 years. He was the former fire marshall of Aldan and Collingdale Boroughs and the 4th District Fire Chiefs Assoc.
In 1956 he was instrumental with the purchase of of the county's first heavy duty rescue truck. He enjoyed camping, fishing and vacationing in Ocean City, MD. Survived by his wife Connie L. (nee Sleighter) Nichols; 2 daughters Cindy (Allen) Gall of Broomall, PA and Kim Rand of Chadds Ford, PA; 1 son Charles B. (Maureen) Nichols of Broomall, PA; 1 brother Raymond M Nichols of Port Richie, FL; granddaughters Jennifer O'Connor and Katielynn Rand.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM at Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service, 202 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden. Visitation: Friends may call Friday 7 to 9 PM and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30am at the funeral service. Burial Grove Methodist Cemetery, West Chester. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to Collingdale Fire Co # 2, 310 MacDade Blvd., Collingdale, PA 19023
