Gerald G. “Jerry” Kirshner, Sr., 68, of Folcroft, husband of Jacqueline M. (Flynn) Kirshner, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2014, after a valiant battle against cancer. Born July 30, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Ann M. (Burnside) and William J. Kirshner, Jr. Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Ridley High School, and he proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed for over 40 years by the Scott Paper Company, and was a longtime member of ABATE, and also a friend of Bill W. for over 25 years. In his spare time he enjoyed metal working, archery, riding his Harley, wood working, and taking care of his salt water fish tank. In addition to his wife, Jerry is also survived by his sons, Gerald G. Kirshner, Jr. (Amanda), of Secane, John E. Kirshner (Jaclyn), of Leedom Estates, and Joseph W. Kirshner (Rita), of Brookhaven, his grandchildren, Lana, Lucy, and Joey, and his siblings, Catherine Siefert, of Glenolden, and Edward Kirshner (Marion), of Folsom. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother, the late William J. Kirshner, III. Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Monday evening, December 29, 2014, from 7:00-9:00 PM, and again on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014, from 9:00-10:15 AM at Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service Ltd., 202 South Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA 19036, and to participate in his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM from Saint Gabriel R.C. Church, 233 Mohawk Avenue, Norwood, PA 19074. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted, and that those desiring to do so may make a memorial contribution in Jerry’s name to the American Cancer Society, 480 Norristown Road, Suite # 150, Blue Bell, PA 19422 which would be deeply appreciated by his family.
