James J. King, Sr., 95 of Ridley Twp., Holmes, PA, passed away on Thursday July 9, 2015 in his home. Beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Takacs) King. Loving father to Donna (John) Deal, Pat Rossley, Gayle (Steve) Oddi, Barbara (Rick) Jones, Jay (Lisa) King, Dennis (Janice) King and Sandy (Kevin) Schindler. Dear Grandfather (GPop) of 21: Brian, Alison, Heather, Amy, Mary, Jeff, Julie, Vicky, Debbie, Melissa, Greg, Doug, Chris, Matt, John, Kim, Nicole, Andrew, Connor, Kristen and Kyle; Great-grandpop to 8: Julius, Abigail, Alyssa, Brianna, Logan, Devon, Hunter and Bryton. Caring brother to Irene Hillias and Leonard King. Born in Philadelphia, PA,he was predeceased by his parents Edwin J. Grace (Duffy) King, Bertha (Healy) King and 15 of his siblings. He served during World War II in the US Army AirCorp with the 1631st Ordnance Group which was attached to the 56th Fighter Group. During the summer of 1944, Jimmy met up with his brother Franny in England. It was the last time Franny was seen by a family member prior to his death during the Battle of the Bulge in early 1945. For 31 years, Jimmy was the Owner/ Operator, of King’s Exxon Service Station in Holmes, PA. Jimmy was on the Board of Directors for the PA Service Station Dealers Association, a member of the Ridley Township Business Assoc., Lifetime member of the Holmes Fire Co, longtime Usher at Our Lady of Fatima Church, a member at the Knights of Columbus de La Salle Council 590 and a Phillies Season Ticket holder for 50 years. He loved playing golf and spending time with his family. Funeral mass: Thursday July 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, South Ave, Secane. Family and Friends may call Wednesday July 15, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm and Thursday July 16, 2015 from 8:00am- 9:30am at Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service, 202 S. Chester Pk, Glenolden, PA. Burial will take place at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jimmy’s name to support the opening of the new eXtraoridinarY Kids Clinic at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. This clinic was close to Jimmy’s heart because it directly benefits one of his grandchildren.
