Joseph W. Garrity, 77, of Norwood, PA, died Sunday February 24, 2013 in Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and the late Ella E. (nee Armstrong) Garrity. Joe was a graduate of Roman Catholic H.S. and LaSalle University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Joe retired from General Electric as manager of Aerospace of Government Contracts & Compliance. He was a resident of Norwood Borough for the past 45 years, and served as the Borough treasurer for the past 25 years, taking great pride in significant improvements made t the borough’s financial position during his tenure. He was a faithful member of St. Gabriel’s Church. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports fan, but his true passion was spending time with his family. What brought him the most Joy was attending the activities of his 21 grandchildren and of their many accomplishments. Survivors: His loving wife of 53 years, Marian (nee Reilly) Garrity, five sons; James Garrity, John (Susan) Garrity, Steve (Maria) Garrity, Mike (Karen) Garrity, Robert (Sue) Garrity; two daughters: Diane (Mike) McGrath, Maria (Tom)McGrath: two brothers; John Garrity, William Garrity; three sisters: Joan Bunting, Helen Garrity, Margaret Garrity; 21 Grandchildren, 1 Great Granddaughter. Funeral Mass: Monday 11:00AM, Saint Gabriel’s Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood. Visitation: Sunday, from 6-9pm, at the Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service, 202 S. Chester pike, Glenolden, PA., and Monday from 9:45am – 10:45am, Saint Gabriel’s Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA. Burial: Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
