LeNora “Lee” Wright Hamilton entered eternal peace on Friday, January 15, 2016, after battling brain cancer. Lee, daughter of the late Elenor K. and Preston L. Wright, was born in Brooklyn, NY, and has called Ridley her home since she moved there in 1955. A graduate of Ridley Township High School Class of 1962, she continued her education at Millersville State College and at Villanova University, attaining her master’s degree in Library Science. Her career as a high school librarian began at Ridley High School from which she retired in 2005. She also taught at Southeast Delco and Radnor Township school districts. While teaching she was very involved in extra-curricular activities to interact with the students. She was a class sponsor, cheerleading coach, yearbook advisor, FTA advisor, Middle States participant at 8 schools in the tri-state area, and co-chair of Ridley’s last Middle States evaluation. Lee also was co-chair of the Delco Public-Private School Consortium that brought Access PA to Delaware County schools. Professionally she served as newsletter editor, grievance chairman, contract negotiator, and both vice president and president of the Ridley Education Association. Community involvement included the presidency of the Ridley Township Public Library Board of Directors. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Ridley Educational Foundation at its inception. A loyal and loving friend, Lee listened with a warm heart without judgment or criticism. Her joyful personality will be missed by everyone in her life. She is survived by her loving sisters, Sheila and Cynthia, and their husbands, Lee’s “brothers,” Jack and Michael. They were caregivers every day of her life after her diagnosis. She is also survived by her beloved son, Andrew, and his wife Amy, and granddaughters, Allison and Abby, all of York, PA. Her estranged husband of 47 years, Andrew Hamilton, Jr., also lives in York. In addition, three nieces and two nephews will miss her love and guidance. Memorial service Wednesday January 20,2016 1:00 pm at Kevin M. Lyons Funeral Service, 202 S. Chester Pk, Glenolden, PA Visitation Wednesday 12:30 -1:30pm at the funeral home Interment Private In lieu of flowers, Lee requested donations to the Ridley Educational Foundation, c/o Beverly Kapanjie, 1001 Morton Avenue, Folsom, PA 19033.
