Rita Giacobello

Rita Dolores (nee Martini) Giacobello passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Taylor Hospital surrounded by her loving children. She was born on April 25, 1925 in South Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Maria Giuseppe (nee Paolucci) Martini and Constantino Martini. After graduating from South Philadelphia High School, Rita worked as a legal secretary for a Philadelphia law firm. In 1947, she married Dominic Thomas Giacobello. Rita was a devoted wife and mother and, after raising her three children, returned to the work force at age 47, working for the Chief Financial Officer of INA, which became CIGNA. She retired in 1988. Rita was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Secane in 1953. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Senior Citizens where she served on the board and she participated in Briarcliffe Senior Citizens. Rita enjoyed her senior citizens meetings and luncheons, her Saturday evening dinner friends at the diner, and she especially enjoyed her many casino trips. Rita loved all types of music and with her two sisters sang on the radio in the forties. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, especially her Italian Christmas Eve fish celebration, and was especially known for her baking. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dominic T. Giacobello, Sr., and her siblings: Louis Martini, Julia Martini, Romeo Martini, Mario Martini, and Philomena Messina. She is also predeceased by her grandson, Nicholas T. Mullin. Survivors: Loving Children: Angela Carboni (Paul), Dominic T. Giacobello, Jr. (Donna), and Dee Mullin (Thomas). Grandchildren: Paul M. Carboni, Jr. (Galen), Jenna Mullin Mozdzen (Michael), Sabrina N. Carboni, Dana M. Giacobello, and Vincent D. Giacobello. Great Grandchildren: William Paul Carboni and Baby Mozdzen. Funeral: Calling hours: Thursday, June 20, 2013, 9:00 to 11:00 A. M. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, South Avenue, Secane, PA, followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
