Aston, PA—Sister Jordan Marie Goeke, OSF (95), died in Assisi House on June 28. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 71 years. Sister Jordan was born Mary Winifred Goeke in Trenton, New Jersey, where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a graduate of Cathedral High School. She entered the congregation in 1945 and professed her first vows in 1948. Sister Jordan Marie studied nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Baltimore where she became an R.N. She later earned a BSN in Nursing and a MSN in Administration, both from Dusquesne University. She ministered primarily in healthcare and administration. Sister Jordan Marie ministered for 48 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She ministered as a nurse at St. Agnes Hospital and a nursing supervisor at St. Mary Hospital in Philadelphia. She also served as coordinator of nursing administration at St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne. She spent 24 years in ministry at Neumann University where she served as the director of health services, among other roles. She also ministered in community service for the congregation at Our Lady of Angels Convent in Aston. Sister Jordan moved to Assisi House in 2014 and served in prayer and hospitality ministry until her death. During Sister Jordan’s 11 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, she served as assistant director of nursing services at St. Joseph Hospital. During her three years in the Archdiocese of Boston, she taught at Holy Trinity School. Additional experience in healthcare and nursing took her to the Diocese of Harrisburg where she served at St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster, the Diocese of Wilmington where she served at St. Francis Hospital, and the Diocese of Allentown where she served at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading. All services will be held in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014, on Tuesday, July 2. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Jordan is survived by her nieces, her nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
