Sr. Regina LaSorte

Sister Regina Anne LaSorte, OSF, (89) died in Assisi House on Saturday, February 15, 2014. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 67 years. Sister Regina Anne was born Jean Marie LaSorte in Toledo, Ohio. She entered the congregation in 1945 and professed her first vows in 1947. She earned her RN from St. Agnes Hospital, Philadelphia, in 1950. She ministered primarily in healthcare as a nurse and in parish ministry. Sister Regina Anne ministered for 36 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She ministered at St. Agnes Hospital and at St. Mary Hospital. From 1989-1991 she worked at Our Lady of Angels Convent in Aston. She moved to Assisi House in 2006 and served in prayer ministry until her death. Sister Regina Anne ministered for 14 years in the Diocese of Trenton. She ministered at St. Francis Hospital, Morris Hall in Lawrenceville. Sister Regina served in parish ministry at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, Corpus Christi Church in Willingboro, as well as working at St. Anthony School in Trenton. Sister Regina Anne also ministered for an additional 14 years in the Diocese of Harrisburg where she served at St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster. In addition, Sister Regina Anne, ministered for one year at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware; two years at St. Mary’s Home of Children in New Bedford, Massachusetts; and one year at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania. All services will be held in Assisi House, 610 Red Hill Road, Pennsylvania, 19014 on Wednesday, February 19. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial at will be at 11 A.M. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Aston. Sister Regina Anne is survived by nieces and nephews, and by her Franciscan family.
