William J Henderson, Jr, 64 of Ridley Twp., PA, died Saturday December 14, 2019. Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and the late Frances L (Miller) Henderson, Sr. He was a Lt. Detective, employed by Ridley Township Police for 31 years working his way up from patrolman to Detective Lieutenant. Bill was a life member S.M. Vauclain Fire Company where he was past Chief and served as Ridley Township’s Assistant Fire Marshall. He was a Ridley Alumni where he participated in athletics. He was very active in the community and volunteered with the Ridley Raider Marching Band and Ridley United Soccer Club in which his children were involved. Bill was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and most recently pop - pop. He loved spending time with his family and was always making everyone laugh at holiday gatherings. He loved to watch sports and cheering on the Philadelphia Flyers with his wife, Diane and attending the sporting events of his nieces and nephews. He was so proud of his nephews Michael and Matthew now serving our country in the Army and Marines respectively. He and Diane had recently purchased a shore home in Avalon. It was his happy place and he could spend hours sitting in his beach chair. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile and laugh, as well as the kindness he extended to everyone met. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, brothers and sisters of the Ridley Township Police Department and S.M. Vauclain Fire Department and the entire Ridley Community. Pre - Deceased by Uncle Edward Miller. Survived by his wife: Diane (Husman) Henderson, one daughter: Melanie Ann Medendorp (John C., IV). and one son: David William Henderson. His sisters Patricia (George), Catherine, Sarah and Constance (Chuck), Grandchildren, Elisabeth and John, Aunt Constance Bailey (Joe, son Kevin), Aunt Ann Miller, Cousin Joseph Hastings (Alisa, children Erin and Briana), Cousin MaryAnne Pisani (Phil), Cousin Tom Hasting (Faith), Cousin Ed Miller, Jr. (Amy), Cousin Michael Miller (Janice), Cousin Danny Miller (Shauna), Cousin Mark Miller (Jen), Brother - in - law David Husman (Mollie, children Andy, Travis, Hannah), Nieces Shannon Smarkola, Samantha Smarkola, Marykate Cowan, Nephews Michael, Matthew and Marty Cowan.
