Alice Lauffer

Alice K. Lauffer, 80, of Youngwood, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, in Excela Health Westmoreland. She was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Greensburg, the daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Wilma Kathryn (Phillips) Gaffney. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John F. Lauffer Jr., of Youngwood. They were married Aug. 17, 1956, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Youngwood. She is also survived by two sons, John F. (Becky) Lauffer III, of Derry Township, and Robert P. (Cindy) Lauffer, of Youngwood; four grandchildren, Kathryn S. Lauffer, of Derry Township, Michelle R. (Blaine) Kring, of Waynesboro, Jonathan S. Lauffer, of Johnstown, and Matthew C. Lauffer, of Latrobe; a great-grandson, Elijah Lee Kring, of Waynesboro; a brother, John W. (Diane) Gaffney, of Youngwood; a sister-in-law, Beverly Lauffer, of Greensburg; two nieces, Valerie Emerick, Kristen Scharer; a nephew, Brendan Gaffney; four great-nephews, Curtis, Joseph, James and Jacob; special friends, Glenda Rupert, Glenda Kaye Mester-Miller, Jennifer Breegle, Patti Porch, members of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church and the ladies and staff of Curves New Stanton. Respecting Alice's wishes, there will be no public viewing. Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Youngwood. A Memorial Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Peter E. Nordby presiding. BARNHART FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's (Chair lift) fund, C/O the Church, Westmoreland Humane Society or a charity of ones choice.
