Charles W. Bolton, 89, of Franklin, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Caring Place, Franklin. He was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Greensburg, son of the late Mabel and Murray Bolton. Charlie joined the Army at a young age and served proudly with the Army Engineers and Chemical Corps. His tours of duty included Germany, Austria and later, Alaska. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed woodworking, stamp collecting, and rooting for the Steelers. He was a history buff (especially World War II) and was a lifetime member of the NRA. After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked for many years as a construction worker in Pittsburgh, Chicago, and New York, until his retirement. Charlie was a confirmed bachelor and never married. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Murray Jr., Lou, and Jack Bolton; and a sister, Sara Edwards. He is survived by nine nephews and nieces who he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with.
