Edward D'Emilio Obituary

Edward D'Emilio, 87, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Emeritus Assisted Living in Latrobe. He was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Jeannette, a son of the late Dominic and Carolyn (Tangeretti) D'Emilio. He was a 1945 graduate of Jeannette High School where he was vice president of his senior class as well as a starter on the basketball team. He served during World War II in the Navy, as a seaman first class with Sea-Bee Division 56. Afterwards he attended refrigeration school in Wilkinsburg, where he graduated first in his class. He started his own business, D'Emilio Refrigeration, where he successfully serviced various businesses in and around the Greensburg area for more than 60 years. Eddie was an avid sports enthusiast and was especially a fan of Notre Dame Football throughout his life. He was also interested in music and especially liked listening to the music of the big band era. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline (Vallano); five children, Carole Duvall (Gary), Richard (Laura), Mark (Terri) David (Donna) and Paul (Felicia); 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank and his wife, Patty, of Florida, formerly of Johnstown, and Jerry and his late wife, Helene, formerly of Jeannette, now residing in Oregon. Eddie will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and among his customers for his strong work ethic and integrity. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 East Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
