John Hofelt

John E. Hofelt, 91, formerly of Greensburg, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. He was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Cook Township, the son of the late Rufus and Nell Boyd Hofelt. He had been a member of the Pleasant Grove and Maplewood Presbyterian Churches. Early in his adult life, he worked on the family farm and lumber business. He was a 1943 graduate of Ligonier High School, attended Grove City College and graduated from Allegheny Technical Institute with certification as a radio engineer. He worked in computer maintenance for 26 years. He and his wife, Nancy Wineman Hofelt, enjoyed traveling, especially to California. He was a member of the Arthur St. Clair Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He collected books on family history. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty J. Hofelt. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen (Michael) McNeil, of Colorado, Donna (Gary) Rucks, of Florida, and Nancy (Kenneth) Blackburn, of Virginia; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
