June Setmire Obituary

June A. Setmire, 88, of Greensburg, died Sunday, February 22, 2015, at home. She was the daughter of the late John Eidem and Dorothy Blank Eidem Walters. She was a devoted wife of 60 years to her departed husband Glenn Martin Setmire (2009). Hew greatest joys in life were her children. She was a loving mom to her son the late David Martin Setmire (1968), her surviving son Michael Glenn Setmire of Greensburg, and her daughter Sharon “Sharry” Setmire of New Alexandria. She was a proud grandma to Jessica Lynn Setmire of Pittsburgh. She was a great sister to the late Becky Eidem (2008). June was a RN who graduated in 1948 from Latrobe School of Nursing. She was so proud to be a RN who really cared so much about her job and, most of all, her patients. She worked 40 years, one year at Latrobe Hospital, 10 years in Toledo, Ohio, and 29 years at Westmoreland Hospital, from where she retired in 1988. She had worked in numerous areas: the OR, Labor & Delivery, ICU, Short-Stay, and GI. She was so happy to have a big extended family. She was a sister-in-law to the deceased Elizabeth and Happy Geis, Dave and Marie Tarchis, John and Ruth Setmire, Steve and Helen Sutmire, Joe and Doris Setmire, John (Shunda) and Helen Kubinec, Louis and Barbara Setmire, Julius Setmire, and John Bayura. An aunt, Betty Blank of Greensburg; sister-in-law Josephine Bayura and numerous cousins also survive her. She was a fun and loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply. She was full of happiness and laughter, also kind and giving. She had a way to make you feel special she thought that everyone in her life was. She enjoyed roller skating, going on trips with friends, the casinos, playing cards, reading a good book, and bowling on the Wii. She watched TV game shows, golf, and the Steelers. Her biggest enjoyment was dancing with Glenn and having family and friends over for a big Easter egg hunt. She also loved her sweets: #1 was chocolate, and her dogs. After retirement, she volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, was a member of the Westmoreland Area Nursing Association, and the McKenna Center. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment will following in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
