Lawrence Bell Obituary

Lawrence M. Bell, 72, of Armbrust, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was born September 26, 1941 in Greensburg, a son of the late Fridolin Bell and Eleanor Zimmerman Beam. Larry retired from the Navy in 1980 He served on many ships and was stationed all over the country. In 1978, he built an adaptor for the E-2C Hawkeye aircraft, for which he received a stipend and letter of appreciation. His last duty station was in Palau Sardinia. He then worked for Robertshaw Controls and Fassett Manufacturing. He was a member of the Third United Church of Christ of S. Greensburg, the VFW Post 33, and the American Legion Post 981. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father Wilbur Beam. He is survived by his wife, Lois J. Simpson Bell; a daughter Erica (David) Barnhart of Bovard; four grandsons: Cody, Dylan, Brandon, and Andrew Barnhart; and two sisters-in-law: Connie (Jack) Wilkinson of Armbrust and Sharon Simpson of Youngwood. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Third United Church of Christ, 1522 Elm St., Greensburg, PA 15601.
