Robert J. Royal, 90, of Greensburg, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Country Meadows, Bridgeville. He was born May 12, 1922 in Port Alleghany, a son of the late William F. and Wyvonda Brundage Royal. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army. He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg. He belonged to the Hempfield Twp. Roosevelt Club and was a life member of the VFW Post 6391 of Port Alleghany. He was predeceased by his wife Joann “Jody” Darling Royal and a brother Harold Royal. He is survived by two sons: James W. Royal and wife Terri of Bridgeville and Thomas R. Royal and wife Charlene of Gilford, N.H.; three grandchildren: Kristopher Royal, John Royal, and Katie Bressan; and two great-grandchildren: Saylor and Anna Lee Royal. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Craft officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Greensburg will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
