Samuel M. Smith

Samuel M. Smith, 85, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. He was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Sharon, a son of the late Harry S. and Ruth Lowery Smith. He was in the Korean War, having served in the Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nancy A. Welch Smith. He is survived by a daughter Ann (Tom) Smith-Palenchar, of Oregon; son, Steven (Leslee) Smith, of Greensburg; and grandchildren, Zachary Palenchar and Delaynee Smith; and special family friends, Chris and Dave Lomicka and their children, Matt, Adam and Connor, all of Greensburg. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg where he served as Deacon and President of Deacons, he also was a member of the Elks, Masonic Lodge a Rotarian and an Advisor for the Junior Achievement Program. Sam worked in HR for Westinghouse and Robertshaw Controls. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, at which time a memorial service will be held in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery. Donations made be made to a charity of one's choice.
