William H. Caccia Obituary

William H. Caccia, Jr., 91, of Greensburg, passed to Heaven on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born June 11, 1925, in Connellsville, a son of the late William H. and Laura E. Ashbaugh Caccia. Bill was a WWII veteran, flying missions over Burma, India and China, having served in the Air Force. He retired as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg. He volunteered for a number of community organizations, including: West Point VFD, Mutual Aid Ambulance Service, and Tri-City Meals on Wheels. He especially enjoyed going to Eat ‘n Park. Although he knew his future wife from 8th grade, he didn't start dating her until he was back from the service and noticed her at the roller rink. Since she worked at the Photo Supply, he decided he should develop an interest in photography which they shared through their 63 years of marriage. They were true soul mates, enjoying travel and camping and bicycling the rail trails. He was a true “old-school” gentle man; always willing to give a hand, and he always looked for the good in people. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, M. Jeanne Smeltzer Caccia, and a brother, Francis A. Caccia. He is survived by two daughters: Susan Caccia, of Greensburg, and Gail Mountain, of Phoenixville; a brother, Lewis E. Caccia, of Hubbard, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, including: Darlene Yudell and Lewis Caccia, Jr.; and special friends, Terry and Sharon Lalli, of Tyrone. There will be no public visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, please use the funeral home website to plant a tree in memory of Bill.
