William Peterson

William J. “Bull” Peterson, Jr. died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born November 11, 1924 in Turtle Creek, a son of the late William J. and Catherine Studderman Peterson. Bull was a WWII veteran, having served in the army’s 29th infantry division. He had been member of the VFW and American Legion. He was active in charitable causes for children and veterans. He was a humble man with a character typical of his generation. He will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: James and Robert Peterson and a sister Catherine Roeder. He is survived by a sister, Joan P. Dysert of Greensburg and a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. A liturgy service outside of mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
