Jack Wolfersberger Obituary

Jack R. Wolfersberger, 78, of Chambers Hill, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chambers Hill on June 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Galen V. Wolfersberger, Sr. and Mary M. Firestone Wolfersberger. Jack retired after 42 years as a carpenter for Shaffer & Son, Inc., Hershey. He was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. Jack was a lifetime member of Chambers Hill Fire Company #456, where he currently served as a trustee as well as being a firefighter and member of the fire police. He was also a member of the Dauphin County Fire Police and Fire Chiefs Association, the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association, and the South Western Fire Company. When he wasn’t at the fire house, Jack enjoyed tending to his yard, camping, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret A. Williams Wolfersberger, whom he married on July 10, 1976; daughters, Janett E. Weaver of Chambers Hill and Tammy L. Beshore wife of Karen P. Gillan of Camp Hill; sister, Frances H. Wagner widow of Richard of Hummelstown; grandsons, Justin R. Wolfersberger of Murryville, GA, and John-Eric T. Gillan of Camp Hill; great grandson, Dylan A. Hartzfeld of Sykesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Galen V. Wolfersberger, Jr. and Charles E. Wolfersberger; and great grandson, Silas L. Wolfersberger. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Lois K. Van Orden, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. A viewing will be held Thursday in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chambers Hill Fire Company #456, 6400 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
