Lawrence R. “Lyle” Swartz, 89, of Hummelstown, was called home by the Lord Monday, September 18, 2017, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.<br>Born in Coaldale on May 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Ross and Bertha Buffington Swartz. <br>Lawrence retired from the Coca Cola Company where he was a route salesman after 28 years of service. Before working for Coca Cola he was a body and fender man, working on various cars throughout the area. Lawrence was a 1948 graduate of Hershey High School. He was a member of Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church, Enola. Lawrence is an U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Lawrence loved music; playing the guitar and harmonica, especially for the residents of ManorCare Camp Hill. <br>He is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, Clare E. Heisey Swartz, whom he married on September 26, 1951; four daughters, Karen S. Hoffman wife of Joseph of Sanford, FL, Julie A. Longreen wife of Kenneth of Harrisburg, Janice E. Freet wife of John of Lewisberry, and Amie B. Novosel wife of Mike of Lebanon; a son, Mark L. Swartz husband of Theresa of Summerdale; two brothers, Roy and Jack; three sisters, Alma, Helen, and Ruth; twelve grandchildren; and twenty one great grandchildren.<br>In addition to his parents, Lawrence was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.<br> A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017, at 11 AM in the Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church, 116 South Enola Drive, Enola, with The Rev. Thomas Graham, his pastor, officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family in the church from 10 AM until time of the service. Private inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. <br>Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.<br>In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church, 116 South Enola Drive, Enola, PA 17025, in support of their Missions program.<br> Online condolences may be shared at w ww.trefzandbowser.com.
