Sandy Olszewski

Sandy L. Olszewski, 71, went to be with her Lord in heaven on May 5, 2012. Sandy was the beloved wife and best friend to her husband Richard Olszewski of Hummelstown. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles (Jack) May. In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by four children, Sherry Aldinger of Tallahassee, FL, Michele Young of St. Louis, MO, Jack Etnoyer, Jr. of Hummelstown, and Jason Etnoyer of Palmyra. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tucker Etnoyer, Samuel Etnoyer, Mia Etnoyer, Eva Etnoyer, and Tyler Aldinger; five step-children, Michael Olszewski, Richard Olszewski, Gloria Peifer, Ida McMurray, and Andrew Olszewski; 13 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Sandy was a 1959 graduate of Central Dauphin High School. She spent her life as a homemaker. Sandy was a very active member of St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Harrisburg. She spent much of her time volunteering in many capacities at her church. Sandy was known to everyone as a kind, generous person who would go out of her way to help people. She loved visiting with people when they were sick or lonely. Sandy was known for always taking food, baked goods or chocolate to those that she visited. She gave more than she ever expected to receive. Sandy also enjoyed working in her yard, feeding the birds, and taking pictures of all the wildlife that visited her feeders every day. Sandy was very loved and will be missed by all of her family, friends, church family, and neighbors. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 11:00 AM in St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, with The Rev. Fr. Neil Sullivan, as celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Harrisburg. Friends will be received for a viewing on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown; and on Wednesday in the church from 10:00 AM until time of the mass.
