Betty Jane Blough

Betty Jane Eash Blough, 89, of Elizabethtown, passed away September 8, 2019, at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, on March 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ada Thomas Eash. Betty was a homemaker and did private housekeeping. She attended Blough Mennonite Church, Hollsopple, and the Hanoverdale Church of the Brethren, Hummelstown; and was a former member of Stauffer’s Mennonite Church, Hershey. Betty was a member of the Farm Women Group #2 of Dauphin County. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, baking and canning. Betty was a humble woman who always put others first. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by four sons, Harold B, Roger D., Sydney R., and Dennis R.; one daughter, Charlotte M.; six brothers; and one sister. Betty is survived by her husband of 73 years, Harry B. Blough, whom she married on September 12, 1945; three sons, Barry J. Blough husband of Melody of South Fork, Leland G. Blough husband of Jill of Hummelstown, and Leonard W. Blough of Elizabethtown; a daughter-in-law Linda Blough of West Hanover Township; 15 grandchildren, Shawn, Aaron, Keith, Tim, Jennifer, Sarah, Contessa and Elizabeth, Shareef, Eli, Fawn, Dawn, Levi, Leland and Lonny; and 27 great grandchildren. Local viewing will be Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:30 to 7 PM with the service following in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Another viewing will be held Friday, September 13, 2019, from 1 to 2 PM with a service following in the Crossroads Community Church, 1259 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown. Interment will be in the Blough Mennonite Church Cemetery, Hollsopple. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala-Cynwyd, PA 19004.
