Phyllis Miller

Phyllis Kosloski Miller, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in the Holy Spirit Hospital. Born in Lower Swatara Township, on August 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ira F. and Mary Karper Alleman. Phyllis was a driver license examiner for the Pennsylvania State Police and was a graduate of William Penn High School, York. She was a member of the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, Harrisburg, the Red Hat Society and was a volunteer for Hospice of Central PA. She loved her pets, traveling, the beach, gardening, baking and crafting. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husbands, Stanley E. Kosloski and Dr. J. Kenneth Miller; a son-in-law, Glenn E. Williams; a brother, Ira F. Alleman and five sisters, Rachel Witmyer, Mary Elizabeth Shireman, Salome Davis, Eleanor Young and Jane Rode. She is survived by two daughters, Carol K. Williams of Middletown and Susan K. Brumbach wife of Kenneth M. Brumbach of Carlisle; a step-daughter, Catherine M. Startzel wife of Richard L. Startzel of Mechanicsburg; three step-sons, J. Larry Miller of Bloomsburg, Dr. William H. Miller husband of Connie Jones Miller and The Rev. Dr. J. Scott Miller husband of Sally Derr Miller of Clausen, MI; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State Street, Harrisburg, with The Very Reverend Jonathan Sawicki VF as celebrant. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Those desiring may make memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., East Shore Shelter, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
