John Sipos

John B. Sipos, 81, of Indiana and formerly of Clymer, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Tide, PA on February 14, 1936, he was a son of the late John Sipos and Clara (Drawl) Sipos. He married Patricia Marie (Potochick) Sipos, September 30, 1961. This Saturday would have marked their 56th wedding anniversary. John was a graduate of the former Pine Township High School in Heilwood. He was a longtime employee of the Montgomery Ward Department Store. He began his career at the old store location on Philadelphia Street and retired when the store had relocated to the former Regency Mall. He served his country both domestic and abroad as a soldier in the U.S. Army during peacetime years. John was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Indiana and a former member of the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer. John was a Pittsburgh sports fan, following the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. He also enjoyed high school athletics, both as a basketball official for 53 years and as a father and grandfather who watched his son and grandchildren participate in their sporting events. John was an outdoorsman who hunted locally at the Sgriccia hunting camp and fished at his camp in Potter County. He always enjoyed listening and dancing to Polka Music. He loved to travel and take trips with his wife, Pat. In general, he loved people and he loved his family. John was a member of the Clymer Slovak Club and was a past secretary at the Dixonville Moose. In addition to his wife, Pat, John is survived by his son, Greg Sipos and his wife, Sandy of Indiana; grandchildren, Olivia Sipos, Pittsburgh and Caleb Sipos, Indiana; his brother, Allan Sipos and wife, Barbara of the Hillsdale area; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and by his little dog and best buddy, Toby. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jimmy and a sister, Betty Heltzel. Friends will be received Friday September 29th from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, Clymer. Rev. Anthony Klimko, celebrant. Burial will be made in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Clymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Indiana County, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
