Joseph Boyer Indiana, Pennsylvania Obituary

Joseph Boyer

Joseph Grant Boyer, 69, of Warren Road Indiana, PA passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.  Joe was born December 29, 1947, in Rimersburg, PA, the son of Dorothy E. Cathcart Boyer and Chester O. Boyer. Joe was a devoted husband for 38 years to Kathy Jones Boyer. He was a loving father and adoring grandfather affectionately known as “Peepaw”. He graduated from Red Bank Valley High School and completed vocational training at Val Tech in Blairsville, PA. He was employed by Dowell, Blacklick, PA for 15 years and retired from Penn DOT, Indiana, PA as District Equipment Manager. Joe loved his country and served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a past Post Commander of the Indiana, PA VFW and was a member of the American Legion Post 141. He took great pride in creating “Jones Holler” for his family, an ideal spot for picnics and bonfires. He loved spending time in his camper, on his Kawasaki Mule which he bought specifically for his grandkids, and on his red Massey Ferguson tractor with many implements which he humorously named “Mighty Mouse”. In his free time, Joe enjoyed hunting, golfing and Friday night dinners with friends. He was always ready to drink a beer with anyone who stopped by, start a new project with his tractor or watch the grandkids sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, one son, Corey J. (Claudia) Boyer of Rockville, MD, two daughters, Corrine R. (Shawn) Miller of Indiana, PA and Trisha M. Thomas of Great Falls, VA, and eight grandchildren Ethan, Esme, Santiago, Valentina (Boyer) Eva, Grant, Zachary (Miller), Elizabeth (Thomas); two brothers, Clifford and Bobbie Boyer of Butler, PA, and Mark and Judy Boyer of Rimersburg, PA; four sisters, Audrey and Joseph Cooper of Sun City, FL, Judith Boyer and Robert Knapp of Atascadero, CA, Carol and Gordon McCullough, of Rimersburg, PA, and Ruby Kay and William John, East Brady, PA, and one brother-in-law Howard Shreckengost, New Bethlehem, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
