Sydney Hilton Obituary

Sydney Hilton, 86, of Indiana, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born in Newton-Le-Willows, England, February 5, 1931, he was a son of the late Sydney Hilton and Elizabeth (Morris) Hilton. He married his wife of 64 years, Gladys (Vardy) Hilton on May 31, 1952. For 31 years he was an engineering manager for the former FMC Corporation in Homer City, retiring in 1994. He was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he participated in many church functions. He was an avid fly-fisherman, who tied his own flies. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his wife, Gladys, Sydney is survived by his two sons: Sydney Wade Hilton and wife, Donna, Apollo and John Hilton, of Pottstown. His grandchildren are: Michelle Thompson & husband, John, of Leechburg and Nicole Nelson and husband, Brian, of Apollo. His surviving great grandchildren are: Tyler Nelson, Brianna Burkette, Britain Nelson and Holden Burkette. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Jones, Newton-Le-Willows, England. He was preceded in death by his parents and the following siblings: Horace, Amelia and Elizabeth Hilton. The Hilton Family will visit with friends Saturday morning, May 6th from 10 until 11 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana where his memorial service will begin at 11 AM. Rev. William Geiger will officiate. Burial of his cremated remains will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. The Hilton family is being served by the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, of Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Christ Episcopal Church, 902 Philadelphia St., Indiana, PA 15701.
