Irma I. Smith

Irma I. (Votta) Smith (Grammy) 90, of North Huntingdon died in her home on Sunday December 20, 2015. She was born March 2, 1925 in Charleroi a daughter of the late Erminio (Herman) and Clara (Genta) Votta. Irma was preceded in death by her late husband Joseph G. Smith Jr. and a sister Theresa (Jean) Votta Bender. She was a graduate of Homer City High School, class of 1942. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 25 years at the Standard Observer (Tribune Review). She was an excellent typist and an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and playing cards with “the ladies” once a week for many years at the Colonial Grill, in Irwin. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. Irma was committed to her family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as cooking and baking for them (especially her homemade buns). No one ever left her home hungry as she made sure everyone always had more than enough to eat. Irma is survived by her son Gerald (Jerry) Smith and his wife, Pat, of Irwin; a daughter Lynn (Smith) Csernotta and her husband, John, of Laguna Beach, CA.; grandchildren Bryan Smith and his wife, Karin, of Mt. Lebanon, Doug Smith and his wife, Jilayne, of Denver, CO, Lauren (Smith) Copeman and her husband, Casey, of, Irwin; great grandchildren Courtney Errington, Caden and Zachary Smith, Emerson and Crosby Smith and Piper Copeman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. Friends will be received Monday Dec. 28th 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday Dec. 29th 9 to 10:30 a.m. at which time parting prayers will be held in the funeral home followed by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
