Alva J. Peterson KANE Alva Jean Peterson, 92, of 331 Oak Street, passed away Monday (February 13, 2017) at Kane Community Hospital. Born January 3, 1925, in Kane, she was a daughter of Mae Trimble and Harold "Dutch" Gafner. On July 1, 1944, in Bradford, she married Marvin B. Peterson who preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Peterson worked for many years at the former Olympic Luggage, the Shirt Factory and Houston Electronics. She also was very active in the First United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Bruce (Deborah) Peterson of Kane; a granddaughter, Ashley (Chad) Bell of Clermont; a grandson, Jacob (Heather) Ehrensberger of Kane; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a grandson, Josh Ehrensberger and a sister, Lois Jeffords. Friends will be received Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Calvin J. Cook, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
