William C. Swanson Jr. KANE William C. Swanson, Jr., 65, of 5 Jackson Avenue, Mt. Jewett, passed away Monday (August 14, 2017) at his home. Born October 3, 1951, in Kane, he was a son of the late William and Elouise Anderson Swanson. On February 7, 1970, in Mt. Jewett, he married Karlene Keller who preceded him in death. Bill served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he worked for many years for Pennzoil and for PennDOT. He was a member of the Mt. Jewett American Legion Post #574 and the Mt. Jewett VFW Post# 6347. He also played in different bands in the area for many years. He truly loved his music and he also loved riding his Harley with his wife, Karlene, before her passing. Surviving are a daughter, Karen (John) Lawton of Mt. Jewett; a son, Michael Swanson of Tampa Bay, FL; three granddaughters, Katlin Lawton, Paige Swanson and Skyler Swanson; two grandsons, Colton Lawton and Michael Swanson; two great-grandchildren, Chase Salzillo and Olivia Salzillo; four sisters, Roni (Jack) Yoder of Smethport, Janice Peterson of Mt. Jewett; Kris (Dave) Marsh of Bradford; and JoAnn (Ron) Berguson of Mt. Jewett; a brother, Bradley (Sandy) Swanson of Mt. Jewett; and several nieces and nephews. His wife and his parents preceded him in death. A celebration of Bill's life will be held 1:00 pm Sunday at the Mt. Jewett Veterans Memorial Club with the Rev. Cam Mealy, pastor of the Mt. Jewett Assembly of God, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop #410. The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
