Wesley P. Grand, 63, of Bridge St., Castanea, died on June 25, 2013 at the Williamsport Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1949 to John J. and Dorothy Tray Grand. Wes was a member of the final graduating class from Immaculate Conception High School in 1967. After attending Lock Haven State College, he worked for several years at American Color and Chemical. Wes also worked for several financial firms including Budget Plan and Avco Financial. He was the account executive for the radio station, WBPZ, Lock Haven. Wes held the position of director at the former Crafts, Inc. Wes ended his working career with the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce where he assisted with the transition to the Clinton County Economic Partnership. He was the Chief Operating Officer. During his nearly 20 years of service, he worked tirelessly for the business as well as the economic future of Clinton County. Along with his dedication to his career, Wes also held many public service positions. He was a past member of the Lock Haven Area Jaycees as well as the PA Jaycees. He worked through the ranks and was awarded JCI Senator #35985, the highest honor in the Jaycees. Wes was also named Jaycee of the Year for the State of PA in 1979, the first person to be named so. During his time in the Jaycees, he served as the Management Development Vice President in PA. He was named Ambassador of the PA Jaycees. Wes was also privileged to be awarded the Lifetime Membership Award, being only the sixth person in PA to obtain such an honor. Besides the Jaycees, Wes also served as a past board member for both the American Red Cross and Lock Haven Hospital. He also served numerous years with the Clinton County United Way, earning the title of Volunteer of the Year in 1996. Wes was a member of the Sons of Italy. In 2003 he was named Rotary Citizen of the Year. Wes was also a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was known for his love of muscle cars, especially early Camaros. Wes was an active member of the Central PA Street Machines until he was unable to participate due to his declining health. Surviving is a sister, Sister M. Johnice Grand I.H.M.; two aunts, Emily Grand Sohmor and Iona (Frank) Grand; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wes’ name to Clinton County United Way, the Lock Haven Area Jaycees, the American Diabetes Association, or the IHM Retirement Fund. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church at noon with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery. A visitation will take place at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, on Friday from 6 until 8 PM. A Sharing of Memories Service will be held at 7 PM.
